Urban CPE Opens Search for New Principal ACPE Certified Educator

Principal ACPE Certified Educator for Urban CPE Consortium, Inc.

If you are social justice oriented, compassionate, and concerned about the “least of these” then Urban CPE Consortium, Inc. (UCPEC) is looking for YOU! We are seeking a Principal ACPE Certified Educator who will be responsible for providing training and education to CPE students in accordance with ACPE accreditation standards. UCPEC, located in the City of Chicago, offers a unique opportunity to supervise students in a non-traditional, non-hospital setting often within social service agencies within the metropolitan area.

​UCPEC Principal Educator QUALIFICATIONS:
  • ACPE Certified Educator or Certified Associate Educator
  • Competence in providing supervision and pastoral training to students
  • Knowledgeable of ACPE standards, requirements for the Educator and the accreditation process

​UCPEC ACPE Certified Educator MUST possess:
  • 5 years of experience in a managerial/supervisory role
  • Strong administrative skills, including time management
  • MUST be a self-starter
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to responding to the challenges of urban community life and social justice issues
  • Highly developed communication skills along with a commitment to provide spiritual and emotional care to others
  • Competent in the use of technology to achieve organizational goals including potential for online learning programs
  • Ability to supervise others
 
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Principal Educator is responsible for providing clinical pastoral education supervision to students enrolled in the Urban CPE Consortium program.

Responsibilities include:  
  • Provides CPE units complying with all ACPE standards: facilitating groups, teaching didactic sessions, supervising students, completing student evaluations.
  • Primary contact point between the site and the student for issues arising during a student’s ministry site experience.
  • Works in collaboration with the Executive Director to ensure sufficient, diverse ministry site placement are available for Urban CPE students, seeking out new partnerships as needed.
  • Conducts applicant interviews and arranges the process of matching Urban CPE students with appropriate ministry sites.
  • Completes in-unit site visits to student ministry site placements.
    • Ensures submission of all required reporting.
    • Ensures site supervision is appropriate to Urban CPE and ACPE standards.
  • Supervises the Certified Educator at NorthShore University Health System and ensures consistent education across all sites and with all partners.  
  • Serves as contact person with the Education committee providing necessary agenda items in collaboration with the Chair of the committee
  • Develops and audits the student manual/handbook.
  • With support from the Executive Director, prepares for, hosts, and executes all ACPE site visits, and accreditation processes.  
  • Serves as point of contact with any Urban CPE Satellite sites and works in collaboration with the Executive Director in the exploration and development of any future partnerships.
  • Offer 2-3 units of CPE per year (approximately 6 students per unit); files student credits with ACPE
  • Orients, trains, and serves as point of contact for site preceptors, as necessary.

Urban CPE Consortium Names New Executive Director

​The Reverend Dr. Dawnn M. Pirani Brumfield
The Urban CPE Consortium Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Rev. Dr. Dawnn Pirani Brumfield as Executive and Development Director. The Board made this selection based on Dawnn’s extensive experience and professional achievements. 
 
In addition to managing day to day operations, Dawnn will work closely with the Urban CPE Consortium Board and former Executive Director/current Principal ACPE Certified Educator, Barbara Sheehan, S.P., to develop a guiding vision for the organization’s future.  Dawnn will have responsibility for communications, marketing, fundraising, and relationship management. 
 
In line with Urban CPE’s mission, Dawnn’s heart lies with those who are marginalized.  Her life ministry has been committed to educating church leadership on how to make the church accessible to ALL people regardless of race, gender, class or culture, sexual orientation, family design and physical, emotional or mental conditions.
 
She is a passionate preacher, teacher, and lecturer who routinely incorporates current books, movies, music and sports analogies into her messages. She is most proud of the opportunities she’s been afforded to teach and preach in South Africa and Ghana, West Africa, and serve in Atlanta, GA as a chaplain at the Metro State Women’s Prison and at the Atlanta Medical Center. 
 
Dawnn earned her Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Chicago Theological Seminary. She also holds a Master of Divinity from Vanderbilt Divinity School and an advanced certificate in Counseling from The Center for Religion and Psychotherapy.
 
She enjoys reading, writing, watching sports and spending time with her spouse, family and friends. Most of all, she loves connecting with people; helping to bring God’s purpose for an individual’s life to fruition.
 
We are confident that Dawnn’s collaborative and engaging leadership approach and wide range of ministerial experiences will assist the Urban CPE Consortium in continuing to achieve its mission and goals to serve a diverse and inclusive community.

Part-Time Executive and Development Director
Urban CPE Consortium, Chicago, IL
 
Serve a mission-based, not-for-profit organization committed to core values of justice, community, compassion, and well-being, as well as the training of ministerial leaders who will provide accompaniment and care to those most marginalized in society.
 
The Executive and Development Director is responsible for the overall day-to-day operations and administration of Urban CPE Consortium. The Executive and Development Director provides, in collaboration with the Board of Directors and the Urban CPE Principle Educator, a guiding vision for the organization with respect to communications, marketing, fundraising, and relationship management, and is responsible for the execution of organizational operations. The Executive and Development Director will have some flexibility over their weekly schedule and the ability to work from home.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, pastoral ministry/theology, or related field required. Master’s degree in non-profit management, pastoral ministry/theology, business, communications, or related field preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience working in non-profit management, organizational leadership, advancement or fundraising, pastoral ministry, or related field.
  • Strong communication and administrative skills, with ability to be self-directed.
  • Experience in fundraising and development, as well as fiscal management responsibilities.
  • Preferred: Experience managing social media accounts and websites. Ability to work with QuickBooks. Familiarity with or completion of at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education a plus.
 
Administrative and Organizational responsibilities:
  • Serves as the primary contact point for Urban CPE through organization email, phone, web, and social media accounts.
  • In collaboration with Principle Educator, ensures compliance with all record-keeping and financial policies and procedures according to ACPE Accreditation standards.
  • Maintains files, contact databases and list-serves, and provides periodic communication among Urban CPE stakeholders, including Board of Directors, donors, program alumni, partner organizations and site preceptors.
  • In collaboration with the Board of Directors, identifies, recruits, and orients board members and assists with board development.
  • Meets with the Board of Directors at scheduled meetings, at least quarterly.
    • Provides a quarterly report on all Executive Director and organizational activities.
    • Works with Board Treasurer to prepare the annual budget.
  • Works with Principle Educator to prepare for, host, or execute all ACPE site visits, audits, and accreditation processes (as needed).
  • Collaborates with all Urban CPE contractors, staff, and partners to ensure that the organization and its programs run smoothly and effectively.
 
Fundraising and Fiscal Management responsibilities:
  • In conjunction with the Board of Directors, develops and implements an annual development plan to meet short- and long-term fundraising goals:
    • Seeking and completing grant applications and completing follow up grant reports
    • Works with FlipCause to maintain online web donations or payments.
    • Building and maintaining donor and alumni relationships, including through the coordination of periodic mailings and e-newsletters.
  • Works with the Urban CPE contracted fiscal management service to maintain all fiscal records, and reports all expenses and revenues in a timely manner.
  • Serve as the executive stakeholder with our bookkeeping service.
  • Takes responsibility for any required purchasing. 
 
Relationship Management responsibilities:
  • Responsible for overseeing student recruitment, including marketing initiatives, fielding program inquiries, and maintaining ongoing contact with member schools.
  • Creates, develops, and maintains formal relationships and ongoing communication with Urban CPE field experience sites, including completion of a yearly site visit to each ministry placement. 
  • Works in collaboration with the Principle Educator to ensure sufficient, diverse field placement sites available for Urban CPE students, seeking out new partnerships as needed.
  • Manages, maintains, and develops relationships with member schools/seminaries and other pertinent religious and/or educational communities.
  • Oversees contractual agreements with all partner/satellite organizations and works with Certified Educator to develop future agreements
